Jamie Forsyth

Dr. Forsyth is a Licensed Psychologist, providing evaluation and therapy services for adults at Freedom First Psychological Services, PLLC.

For evaluation services, Dr. Forsyth offers diagnostic clarification for adults with general mental health concerns, as well as concerns about possible symptoms of adult ADHD. Dr. Forsyth also offers Bariatric Surgery Pre-Operative evaluations.

In therapy, Dr. Forsyth works with adults across a wide array of presenting concerns. Dr. Forsyth is an active researcher and specializes in the areas of mindfulness, addictive behaviors, and self-compassion. She also has specific expertise in brief motivational interventions for individuals struggling with addictions and an evidence-based approach to treatment called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In her clinical work, Dr. Forsyth focuses on helping clients find meaning in their lives while simultaneously nurturing skills to help them (a) let go of what is not working, (b) show up to life as it is, and then (c) move in directions that matter to them. She believes in meeting individuals right where they are and tailors each experience in therapy to meet individual needs. Although her primary theoretical orientation is ACT, Dr. Forsyth considers herself to be an integrationist and thus draws upon relational and psychodynamic theories to help create a holistic person-centered approach to treatment.

Dr. Forsyth received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Syracuse University and her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University at Albany, SUNY. Jamie completed her APA-approved Pre-Doctoral Internship at the Albany Consortium, where she specialized in treating severe mental illness in both inpatient and outpatient populations. Jamie received her Ph.D. from University at Albany, SUNY.
