Bushra Akram, LMHC
Bushra Akram is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, providing therapy services for adolescents and young adults at Freedom First Psychological Services.
Bushra obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Psychology and Sociology from the State University at Albany, SUNY. Bushra then went on to complete her Master of Science in Education degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The College of Saint Rose. During graduate school, Bushra worked as a Pediatric Bereavement Counselor with The Community Hospice for her practicum and internship.
Bushra has post-graduate experience working with diverse populations, children, adolescents, and adults in clinical and educational settings. Bushra has expertise in providing behavioral and mental health services in areas such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, and adjustment disorders through individual and family counseling.
Bushra utilizes intervention styles that best fit each individual’s needs. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, art therapy, play therapy, and psychoeducation. Bushra hopes to create a safe environment for her clients through active listening, empathy, compassion, and cultural sensitivity.
