Barry Davis, LCSW-R

Barry Davis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, providing therapy services for Freedom First Psychological Services, PLLC.


Barry has many years of experience providing clinical services to college aged students and adults. Barry specializes in working with adults experiencing severe mental illness and their families, as well as geriatric patients and their families. In particular, a significant portion of Barry’s mental health career has focused on providing services for those experiencing grief, both individually and in groups. 


 Barry earned his MSW Degree from the University at Albany, as well as his M.Ed and Ed.S degrees in Counseling from the University of Florida. He has attended workshops led by Marsha Linehan, founder of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Carl R. Rodgers, creator of Client Centered Therapy and Person Centered Groups approaches. As a result of his wide ranging education, training and experiences, Barry brings an eclectic approach to his practice.


Prior to his work with Freedom First Psychological Services, Barry provided clinical services as the Family Specialist at a local mental health agency for 13 years, as well as at a local nursing home for over five years.


Barry has also worked for almost twenty years in higher education, providing an array of student services. Such services have included counseling, career counseling, student leadership development and student activities management.


Barry is able to accept the following insurances: CDPHP, Fidelis, Blue Shield of Northeastern NY, and MVP.
